Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale Vs Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

 

Let it be known that I am a hardcore pumpkin aficionado. I mean that with all seriousness. I love all things that are pumpkin making Fall my favorite season. Yet, I have never tried pumpkin beer. I do not consider myself an avid beer drinker, but this was something I had to try.

Anyway, after a short road trip to San Francisco the hubs and I stopped by Bevmo and I treated myself to a Blue Moon Sampler and the Pumpkin Ale surpassed the other flavors by FAR.

Its full bodied flavor with subtle hints of spices, and pumpkin notes wooed me in a way I have never felt about beer before. I am happy to have found you my new love.

I was so vocal about this infatuation my husband felt moved to buy me more pumpkin beer. This was how I came to try Dogfish Head’s "Pumkin Ale."
That's right, it’s not a typo its spelled p-u-m-k-i-n on the label. I do not make this stuff up.

Dogfish Head...despite your grotesque name, you were not grotesque at all. This beer unlike Blue Moon was heavier with spices and had a distinct nutty flavor. This is not a beer for the faint of heart. 

Let's get down to the nitty gritty.

If you are in the market to try just one of these seasonal beers, go with the Blue Moon! The Dogfish Head is not bad at all I just enjoyed blue moon about twice as much. Whatever your choice is, these are two great options.
